Do you feel like your life is moving at a pace that makes it impossible to keep up? It is hard work getting ahead, getting to the top, staying on the top, or expanding your influence and building your image. Do you find yourself on the treadmill of life, but just wanting to get off?

Many people struggle with managing the day to day demands of life and the striving to achieve greatness or success. That is part of our human existence. But too often we approach our spiritual lives the same way. We work and work and work trying to please God or gain His favor.

We get on this spiritual treadmill trying to please God. It is exhausting to try and live a perfect life. To be honest...we can't.

The first thing I would like to say is...GET OFF THE SPIRITUAL TREADMILL!

I heard someone once say that religion is man's attempt to reach God on their own merits and goodness. The problem is...we all fall short. We will never be good enough to gain God's favor.

But God has made a way to have favor with Him. Are you ready...? It has nothing to do with you or riding a treadmill.

The answer lies in God's Son, Jesus. Jesus provides the way for us to gain favor with God. Some of us may already know this, because we have heard it a hundred times in church.

If you have heard it and know it, then why do you live your life on the spiritual treadmill trying harder to please God and gain His favor. That is exhausting.

Jesus says in Matthew 11:28-30...

28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

When we put our faith in Jesus He offers us a new kind of life. We don't have to strive anymore for salvation. He already accomplished that for us.

What are you waiting for? Are you tired? Have you been running on that spiritual treadmill? Come to Jesus. His burden is light. You will find rest for your soul.
